The Chief Accessibility Officer is a new role created in the Accessible Canada Act. The federal government appointed Stephanie Cadieux to this role in May 2022.

The Chief Accessibility Officer is a special advisor to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Carla Qualtrough. 

Ms Cadieux will give information and advice on accessibility to the Minister. She will inform the Minister about accessibility issues and any other developing issues. Ms Cadieux will also be responsible for preparing an annual report on progress in the seven priority areas of the Act.

The appointment is for four years.
